NATURAL GAS FACTS About Us Natural Gas Campaign for Consumer Choice Atlanta Gas Light Originally chartered in 1856 to provide gas lights for the streets of Atlanta, Atlanta Gas Light now serves nearly 1.5 million residential, commercial and industrial customers in 243 communities throughout Georgia. Atlanta Gas Light is the eighth largest natural gas distribution utility in the United States and the largest in the Southeast. Public Service Commission The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) was originally established in 1879 for the purpose of regulating railroad passenger and freight rates, services and operations. University of Georgia Cooperative Extension The University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Program launched its Natural Gas Education program to help keep consumers in the Atlanta Gas Light service territory informed about natural gas deregulation. The program places research-based information at your fingertips and gives you access to UGA Energy Educators by phone and in person, for groups and individuals.
